Lucy In The Sky is the very first feature film directed by Noah Hawley, and Fox Searchlight released the trailer just yesterday. Formerly titled as Pale Blue Dot, the film stars Oscar award winning actress Natalie Portman and Jon Hamm. The cast also includes Ellen Burstyn, Zazie Beetz, Nick Offerman, Tig Notaro, and Dan Stevens.
What’s The Trailer Like?
The trailer of Lucy In The Sky proves to all of us that space travel isn’t as fun and interesting as it seems. The trailer gives us a peek into the darker side of space travel. Portman’s work- from what the trailer shows- is definitely worth appreciating. But that is a given after Black Swan and Von Lux. Space dramas are slowly becoming a trend and this one’s definitely about to set the bar high for others to come, at least by the looks of the trailer. The trailer, however, does not give us much insight into the plot of the movie.
The trailer is like a whirlwind of images portraying an array of emotions- very few of which you are able to actually understand. trying to understand even the basic plot of the movie from just the trailer is nearly impossible. The obscure ending, though, does tell us that Lucy has a complicated character.
What is Lucy In The Sky All About?
The movie is loosely based on the true story of NASA astronaut and US Naval Officer Lisa Marie Nowak. After returning from a substantial space mission, Nowak found out that her lover was having an affair with a fellow astronaut. She then took swingeing measures against it that aparently led to a 2-year long probation and a demotion in the Navy.
In the movie, Portman’s character returns to Earth after a long mission and finds herself losing the touch with earthly reality. And apparently, it’s common among astronauts. She reportedly also suffers from PTSD. The trailer does clearly hint at the downward spiral of her psychological state. Lucy In The Sky supposedly shows us how space travel affected Potman’s character, positively and negatively.
The audiences seem to have high expectations from the film, what with the amazing cast and supposed storyline. The release date of Lucy In The Sky has not been finalized yet, but it is set to release later this year.
