April is gonna be a big month. We’re being treated to two of the most anticipated entertainment related spectacles, namely HBO’s Game of Thrones, which is now in its final season, and Avengers: Endgame, the conclusion to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So with everyone’s attention elsewhere, Netflix decided not to just lounge around and have released a list of their own shows that are going to release this coming month.
The biggest name on this list, and the film I’m going to start with is Brie Larson’s directorial debut, Unicorn Store. By looking at the trailer, we can expect a colourful, quirky and hopefully heartwarming movie about a painter who longs to adopt her own unicorn. The film stars Brie Larson along with her Captain Marvel co-star Samuel L. Jackson. The movie will be available to stream on Netflix on the 5th of April.
Originals aside, Netflix have also got rights to the following movies:
Across The Line
All the President’s Men
Arthur
Deliverance
Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood
Evolution
Freddy vs. Jason
Friday the 13th
Hong Kong West Side Stories (Season 1)
I Am Legend
Lakeview Terrace
JingleKids (Season 1)
Obsessed
Penelope
Pineapple Express
Friday the 13th, one of the many films Netflix are adding to their roster this April.
Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon: S2
P.S. I Love You
Monster House
Sherlock Holmes
Snatch
Spy Kids
Texas Chainsaw 3D
The Bone Collector
The Fifth Element
The Golden Compass
The Legend of Michael Mishra
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 1 & 2
All of these will be available to stream on Netflix from April 1st itself. They also seem to be investing heavily in Anime originals, with the new science fiction, Ultraman releasing on April 1st. Some of their other anime originals include Persona: Collection, Rilakkuma and Kaoru, and Baki (Part 2).
Netflix original, Ultraman
April is going to be a tough month for Netflix, with increasing amounts of Indian users jumping aboard other streaming services, especially Hotstar, due to the commencement of the IPL and the upcoming Game of Thrones Season 8. Despite all this, they are putting up a strong fight to stay in the race for the superior streaming service.
