After Resident Evil 2’s rave reviews from critics, it’s time for the franchise to head into streaming. As per Deadline’s reports, a new Resident Evil TV show is being developed by none other than Netflix. The streaming service has seemingly taken interest in the franchise and is currently trying to get a showrunner.
The RE Film Franchise
It has to be noted that the franchise has been adapted into live action in the Milla Jovovich-lead film series. The film franchise lasted 6 movies, with the next one set to be a reboot. However, the Netflix-backed TV series won’t follow in its footsteps. The show will in fact try to explore the mythology of the games, with a similar basic setup as the movies.
As per reports, the show will “follow the inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus.” In either case, it’s an interesting move by Netflix. We’ll keep you updated as the story develops.
