Sony just dropped the official teaser trailer for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and the movie seems like a ride to look forward to. The tremendously anticipated film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie. DiCaprio and Pitt play the roles of Rick Dalton and Cliff Booth respectively. Margot Robbie plays Sharon Tate- the then-pregnant actress the Manson brothers killed. Late Luke Perry, Damian Lewis, Dakota Fanning, Bruce Dern, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen are some of the other cast members.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has to be the most hyped film of Tarantino’s career, partially because of the cast. Another reason being its supposedly controversial plot. We’ll come across more about the plot later.
Does The Trailer Give Anything Away?
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
The trailer is epigrammatic and crisp, and that’s no surprise, considering it’s coming from Tarantino himself. Snappy music, swift and meteoric dialogues, brandishing visuals- the trailer has it all. Needles to say, it is a treat to the eyes.
One thing is crystal clear from the trailer, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood tells us the story of the exquisite and supreme era that Hollywood was in the 1960s. The trailer reveals that DiCaprio plays the role of a western TV star, and Pitt plays his overzealous stunt double. From the looks of it, the film revolves primarily around Rick Dalton. We get a glimpse of the Australian actor Damon Herriman in the trailer. He is reportedly playing the role of Charles Manson.
What Does Once Upon A Time in Hollywood Have In Store For Us?
Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate
As mentioned before, the film is set in the 1960s- 1969 to be precise. It’s eerily close to Tate’s murder case. Interestingly enough, 1969 also saw the rise of Charles Manson’s cult. Bruce Dern apparently plays the character of the owner of the infamous ranch in which Manson and his followers lived.
The film majorly follows the journey of Rick Dalton, and his stuntman and best friend, Cliff as they traverse within the dynamic world of Hollywood. How the story then moves on to Sharon Tate’s murder still remains a mystery. But reportedly, it makes up a good chunk of the plot, what with Charles Manson being one of the characters. Allegedly, the structure of the film is also similar to that of Pulp Fiction, also directed by Tarantino. He also described the film as “probably the closest to Pulp Fiction” that he has ever done.
