Christopher Nolan’s movies always, always leave a lasting impression. Whether it’s The Dark Knight trilogy, The Prestige, Inception, or Interstellar, his movies have a class of their own. And Christopher Nolan is about to give us another one of a kind movie, Tenet. Warner Bros. announced the official title on Wednesday Morning. Tenet is going to be a follow-up to Nolan’s critically acclaimed, Oscar-nominated historical drama, Dunkirk.

What Can We Expect?

Christopher Nolan’s next Tenet

Christopher Nolan’s next, Tenet, is going to be a follow-up to his historical drama, Dunkirk.

As expected from Nolan, this upcoming project of his is shrouded in mystery when it comes to the plot details. Apparently, Robert Pattinson, a cast member, read the script in a locked room. The plot was very vaguely explained to be “an action epic evolving from the world of international espionage”. Nolan, during an interview for Dunkirk, echoed a dialogue from The Prestige, saying “The audience doesn’t know what it wants. It wants to be surprised". And he sure seems to live by it. At least, when it comes to his movies.

There are some fan theories stating that the film could be about time-traveling spies, though, it seems kind of unlikely to happen. But come to think of, time usually does play an extremely important role in Nolan’s films. Who knows?

Cast and Crew

This “action epic” is about to be shot in seven different countries, while the plot most probably revolves around international spies. Everything about a Christopher Nolan movie is beyond interesting. And that includes the cast. John David Washington, Elizabeth Debicki, and Robert Pattinson will star in Tenet alongside actors like Clémence Poésy, Dimple Kapadia, and Michael Caine. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Kenneth Branagh will also make an appearance.

Tenet

Christopher Nolan, along with his wife, Emma Thomas, is producing his upcoming film, Tenet.

While Nolan has written the screenplay for the film, he and his wife, Emma Thomas will be the producers with Thomas Hayslip as the Executive Producer. This time around, though, Nolan is going to be working with a new editor, Jennifer Lame. This comes as a slight surprise, considering the fact that he has had Lee Smith as his go-to editor ever since Batman Begins. But Smith apparently has other work commitments. Nolan will be using a mix of Imax and 70mm for the film.

Tenet could be an action thriller with just a hint of sci-fi, or it could be a historical drama like Dunkirk. But one thing is for sure, Nolan knows how to satisfy his audiences all too well, both, visually and story wise, and Tenet is about to do the same. Warner Bros. is distributing Tenet worldwide, and it is about to hit the big screen on July 17, 2020. Ah, well, that sure is a long time away. But the movie is most definitely going to be worth the wait.
