Uncontrollably Fond is a South Korean television series starring Kim Woo-bin and Bae Suzy. Although it’s rating drastically went down locally, Asians loved this series. It streamed on Youku, making it the site’s most viewed Korean drama.
Shin Joon-young (Kim Woo-bin) and Noh Eul (Bae Suzy) were classmates but soon they got separated in their teenage life due to an ill-fated relationship.
Shin Joon-young’s mother wanted him to become a prosecutor so as to show her estranged boyfriend that she raised her child well, being a single mother. But due to some issues, Shin Joon-young had to quit his law school. Noh Eul had to leave her school after her father died in a hit and run case and she had to take care of her younger brother. Shin Joon-young became a renowned singer and actor while Noh Eul becomes a documentary producer.
They reunite in several turns, there are several twists and small stories, where, in one it leads to the accident of Noh Eul because of Shin Joon- young. When he realized that he ended up doing something he prayed to God for her life in exchange for his. And life has it to him that he is ended with incurable cancer and he was going to die soon.
This was the time when Noh Eul gets the contract to work with him to make his documentary. Noh Eul failed to trust him and ended in hating him always but Shin Joon-young tried to win her heart back as far as he could.
As time flew, Noh Eul started falling for him and soon gets to know everything about his incurable disease. Every day she counts to make a perfect day for him. She didn’t know when it might be the day that he completely forgets about her and the bond they shared because of the disease he’s suffering from, or it might be the day when it’ll the last time she’ll ever have him. But she tried to smile and keep up with him till the day he’s alive. Shin Joon-young too doesn’t want to leave her, his mom, alone, when everything he wanted in his life was with him but not time.
Uncontrollably Fond shows how life is a treasure, how many people can’t have it, the pain of losing your loved ones, when you’re counting the days of you being alive, also a bit of family drama to add on. While writing it, I can feel that pain rushing through me yet again. I hope you connect it with it too, the way others did.
